So if you haven’t been on Pinterest lately or been watching the amazing Chip and Joanna making over beautiful farm style homes. You are in for a treat! One of the most common factors in farm house styling is neutral everything whites, metals or woods mixed with greenery. So Rae Dunn is very popular with is very neutral pallet most of the ceramic collection is white with black lettering, offering colors for seasonal items. These items make the perfect additional to your farm house décor even if it’s just a few little added items that are seasonal or a cookie jar. As you could imagine it makes any and pretty much all Rae Dunn items sought after, and when I say sought after think the pottery version of beanie babies {it’s that real}.
The people who go out hunting for Rae Dunn have nicknamed themselves Dunnies or Dunn Hunters. My age group of the 30’somethings come by this madness honestly, Beanie babies, Cabbage Patch Dolls and Furby’s just to name a few items our mom’s hunted for when we were young. I have officially jumped on the band wagon why not right! This is how it went. At my husband’s family Christmas party I am chatting with his cousin {a Dunn Hunter} and she is talking about all the new stuff she has found and how her dad goes out to hunt for her. So I am intrigued. She adds me to a few Facebook groups and I check it out on Pinterest before we even leave the party. Of course at this point I am more worried about finishing up my holiday shopping and getting through Christmas without a metal breakdown {The Holidays are not my thing}. Fast ward to after NYE I drag my husband out of the house looking for valentines decorations, I am looking for Dunn for sure but, I also want some cute sparkly hearts {check} and other red items. And Obviously I need to find a tiered tray {check} to hold all of this wonderfulness so here we go. 5 stores later still no Dunn. I am so disappointed, I am checking all the FB groups and see nothing. We go home I am super defeated, I style my tray with white mugs I already have because the sparkly hearts I just found can’t go to waste, and move on with my day. Mind you it’s a blizzard, freezing rain ice storms and bitter bitter cold, we have risked life and limb to find some Dunn. Sunday rolls around and people are posting they are finding valentine’s day stuff about an hour away! I am thrilled, I get dressed tell the husband to get moving we have an adventure to go on. He wants no part of going on this adventure and since I didn’t want to go alone I call for reinforcements {mom and my other newbie} neither one wanted to go it was so nasty out. Needless to say I did not venture out. About a week later I did end up with some Valentine’s day stuff which I love found by Angie the cousin who started this whole mess. But I am super excited to keep hunting. Just yesterday we were having a lazy Sunday at home {you can do that with no kids} my husband says do you want to go out and hunt for Dunn today. My ear’s perk up like the dog when he hears a cheese wrapper, he is now hooked on the thrill of the chase!
